Shrimp Paccante

Attached to a colorful market, in the middle of a canyon at the bottom of a hill, sits a quaint restaurant waiting your arrival.  Pace in the Canyon is a treasure to be found.  Just roll down your windows and follow the amazing scent of delicious food.   Don’t let your  stomach get the best of you and drive right by (the narrow road is a bitch to turn around on).  After valet parking in the market lot, walk down a small wooden staircase lined with white Christmas lights to a tiny entrance draped with curtains.  Choosing between the elegant patio, the trendy dining room or a back room with a  huge fish tank may be difficult but that’s only because one room is more beautiful then the next.  This rustic Italian restaurant serves only organic products purchased from local Farmers Markets every 3 days.

Within minutes of being seated complimentary Calabrese olives, toasted almonds, warm bread and yummy dipping sauce is presented to the table. While munching on these goodies you’ll notice a cylinder of crayons in the middle of your table, equipped with a brown paper table clothe.  Creativity while dining is always encouraged here, so grab a crayon and let your artistic juices flow.

My guests and I opted for a cozy table against the wall and relaxed against an array of plush, vibrant pillows.  While sipping a delicious Sangeovese our minds were swirling with the delicious choices in front of us.  Daily specials only added to the already savory menu.  Staring out with the Shrimp Paccante, a shrimp dish in white bean, zucchini and tomato stew was a fabulous choice and could have  been a meal its own.  As appetizer lovers, we also opted for the Special Salad loaded with fresh crab meat, grilled shrimp, ripe avocados and mixed greens.  As steaming bowls of pasta were delivered around us our appetites grew! A wonderful smell kept pass through the air and as our entrees were delivered I knew immediately what it was.  Pace’s Famous Cedar Wood Grilled Salmon with seasoned shallots and fresh herbs is to die for ! The salmon sits atop the cedar wood it’s cooked on to the enhance that ‘fresh from the oven’ taste and is so sublime you’ll never want o eat salmon any other way.  Pollo al lengu is a grilled organic, hormone free chicken breast finished in a light balsamic vinegar sauce is cooked to perfection.  With an array of sides to choose from the whipped potato puree is super creamy and lump free!  Grilled  asparagus and seasoned vegetables are fresh and crisp.  A perfectly light dinner will leave you craving something sweet!  Do not pass up the Homemade Warm Chocolate Cake! Because it’s made to order and takes a half hour, tell your server at the beginning of your meal so your chocolate cake is enjoyed while warm and gooey.  Drizzeled in a rasberry sauce with a scoop of fresh whipping cream is the perfect way to end a fabulous meal!
