Astro Burger

Vggie Burger Delux

Unlike New York, late night Los Angeles bar goers can’t stumble out of their local drinking hole and grab a slice of pizza.  There’s no late night Sushi place like Yummy Village on Bleeker in SoHo, no bar/restaurant for all those service industry people to grab a quick 5am bite, like 7B on Avenue B.   The LA peeps with a late night food craving have to get a little more imaginative when the clock strikes 2am.  The normal staples out here are the Taco trucks , tamales out of insulated trunks and the occasional diner, for the quintessential eggs and home fries.  However, if you ever find yourself in the West Hollywood area, be sure to make your way over to Gardner and Santa Monica for the best, post drinking grub!

When entering Astro Burger its brightly lit, smells of a delicious back yard bbq and it’s bursting with people.  This 1950’s themed restaurant comes equipped with old fashioned juke boxes and a colorful 25 cent gum ball machine.  With seats inside and an outdoor patio, Astro Burger also takes orders over the phone and has everything packed and ready to go upon your arrival.  Only accepting cash, Astro Burger provides an ATM as soon as you walk in.

Finding something to quench your craving is never a problem here.  With a menu that takes up half of a wall and an array of homemade dipping sauces, your mouth will water with anticipation.  From breakfast, to hand crafted burritos, your eyes won’t be able to move quick enough to spot the sizzling burgers on the flaming grill.  A veggie burger, or a veggie dog, a grilled piece of chicken in a pita and grilled cheese with avocado on whole wheat bread, all in one place? Hell yeah! Glance down the row of cooks to the vat of bubbling oil and watch the infamous zucchini fries emerge, accompanied by homestyle ranch dressing.  Not hungry? Chug down a fountain cherry coke or one of the thickest vanilla shakes,,, maybe a chocolate malted? Whatever you choose, you wont be sorry!

The Veggie Burger Delux comes with the freshest vegetables.  Creamy thousand island is spread on both sides of a toasty whole wheat bun.  Crispy lettuce, a plump slice of tomato, half of an avocado, melted American cheese and a sprinkle of onions is the perfect non guilty late night snack (well…maybe a little guilty).  Either way, it is best paired with homemade Zucchini Fries!  Hand cut green zucchini, breaded and deep fried with a rich ranch dressing will leave you wondering how you can ever go back to eating those run of the mill french fries.  For meat lovers alike, the Ortega Burger is not to be missed.  Chargrilled to perfection and topped with mayo and peppers, you’ll be nothing but satisfied.  A great protein packed sandwich before your night out will sustain you for all those drinks to come.  Chicken Delight in a Pita, will be just that! A grilled piece of chicken, stuffed in a pita filled with mayo, bbq sauce, tomatoes and grilled onions.  Like to stay in and get some beauty sleep? No problem! Wake up and treat yourself to a tasty breakfast sandwich or a hearty burrito.  Made to order burritos are packed with eggs, potato, sausage and cheese-don’t forget the homemade ketchup! A midday Vanilla Shake is never looked down upon here.
